The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is committed to transforming the way our buildings are designed, constructed and operated through LEED — the top third-party verification system for sustainable structures around the world. Learn more.
USGBC Louisiana is a chapter of the USGBC and is committed to making Louisiana a greener, healthier place to live, work, and learn.
Our vision – To make Louisiana’s communities healthy, prosperous places to live, work and learn, sustainable for generations to come.
Our Mission - Transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy and prosperous Louisiana. We do this through education, advocacy, research, and service.
In August 2005, just two weeks before Hurricane Katrina, a group of forward thinking design and construction professionals, along with progressive product manufacturers were accepted by our national organization as a USGBC Interest Group. Articles of Incorporation were signed in June, 2006 and by December, 2008, USGBC Louisiana Chapter was chartered with USGBC.
Today the chapter is driven by dedicated volunteers who are moving our state forward. Focused on Green Schools and Green Tools, the chapter advocates for better building practices and green building codes, provides continuing education and research for over 850 LEED credentialed professionals across the state, and implements green schools programs that have been nationally recognized for transforming learning environments for Louisiana's youngest stakeholders.
Chapter membership is open to anyone for a passion for green building, environmental stewardship, and healthier, more sustainable communities for all of us.
More information about our robust programming and opportunities for engagement are found throughout this website.
